I’ll admit, I normally don’t go much for this so overly commercial holiday that depresses countless all accross America every year; but this year I fully enjoyed celebrating in our own very simple way. Usually I always feel this awkwardness or disappointment in Valentines day no matter what Joe and I ever did. We’ve tried going out, buying nice gifts, making each other gifts etc. and even if the day turned out well it just never seemed very special at all. So this year we decided to do absolutely nothing at all, no plans, no gifts, nothing…. and it just so happen to turn out extremely well.

I think maybe I always just felt pressure that things were suppose to be all perfect and lovey on Valentines day and it just annoyed me. I don’t feel in love on command, it just sort of happens. And if Joe has annoyed me a few times that day then I’m just going to be annoyed no matter what the holiday says I should be. But when you just throw the whole holiday out the window, forget about “the perfect gift” and just appreciate being able to spend time together and realize you’re still head over heels in love after 5 years together then it doesn’t matter what day it is anymore. I’m definitely very surprised in both of us. I never really thought about how long we’d be together or if anything would last. I think that was the first thing I did right in any relationship. No expectations this time, just let it go where ever it was going to go and have fun in the process.
So the basics of our weekend has consisted of locking ourselves away in the room, playing video games and eating lots of chocolate! Absolutely perfect. We’ve been playing Silent Hill on Xbox360 too so it’s been completely freaking me out which always makes for a fun time. Apparently it’s really fun to torture me when I’m scared -.- I really liked doing nothing though, very simple things make me happy.

This past Friday was also Kiwi’s 1st birthday! I made him a “bird cake” out of sliced up pieces of fruit that sort of resembled a cake. He was scared of it for like and hour, then finally grew some bird balls and gave it a try… long story short; sticky fruit mess all over his cage now. Also gave him a few new toys which he’d already starting to destroy. I’d say he enjoyed his birthday. I’m plotting now to get myself a birthday gift… a little blue baby brother for Kiwi XD. Found a store in Manhattan that hand raises and socializes baby birds (including parrotlets) from hatching. Also means I can pick out a baby bird and go feed and play with it all I want till it’s weaned and ready to go home. They also sell the mutated blue form for the same price as the green! So I won’t have to spend $400 on an 8 ounce bird, thats effen crazy. I do think Kiwi needs a friend to help him become more social and give him something to do when no one is home. But this time for the first 6 months my new birdie is going EVERYWHERE with me. Its so much easier to expose them to things when they’re like a month or two old and they won’t be afraid of it. Kiwi is such a chicken XD.

umm sooooo…friday joe and i went out to eat at boulder creek with his parents. fun fun (-.-), eh…the meat was good…*giggles*. annnnnnd i got a letter in from FIT about my portfolio review and home test. i have to draw a fashion design inspired by some sort of object and i have to make a series of sketches of four different outfits from 1 jacket, 2 tops and 2 bottoms. weeee….not that hard really…but they want fabric swatches which kinda sucks…cause that means i have to get my ass into the city…urgh…and i have no money…damn them all. sooo yesterday i just worked on drawing crap. i’m ruling when it comes to inking things all of a sudden. i got these really nice pens (sakura brand…muahahahahaha) and they make me not suck somehow. eh whatever works. and then i stayed up all night last night and finished off radiata stories cause i’m a loser and all…and now i feel so empty and incomplete without a game to be obsessed over…crap..
