Only took like 5 or 6 hours 8D. Meh, I feel accomplished anyway. Japanese can be a very difficult language to interpret into English understanding to begin with. Combine that with the way Ryutarou writes lyrics and you have one big confusing mess. Though I can write out the exact English equivalent of each word the meaning can still be difficult to understand as a LOT is lost in translation that can only be understood when you read it in it’s original form. I could just completely skip more literal translations and rewrite entire lines in a new way that express what is really trying to be said. That could work but most people get very angry over it and can argue that it is only the way I personally interpreted the line and can’t be taken as the true meaning of it. Because of this I left it as is, maybe changed a few things to more appropriate wording that would be easier to understand. I left my own way of interpreting the meaning in the song at the end, else take it however you like to :3

Plastic Tree –

Plastic Tree – Moonlight

The end was a night like “see you later someday” We’re both liars
It does not mean that I immediately want to see you but I do think about you
The night sky is only one part of the universe, a metaphorical place I cannot reach
Rising was the waning moon Falling down was the crying me*

Because I fear getting hurt I will try to hurt you as little as possible
Still on a personal argument, attacking you would be unreasonable
It’s possible to say both of us were prone to plastic-like connections
And yet feelings of love have seemed to open up a hole in my heart

Occasionally opening and closing the mail screen, my finger tips confirm the past.**
When is this message from? These words of love. Even so, my recollection of them has expired.

The same moon, it’s the same thing when the depths of my heart illuminate.
After one second, one light-second I return because you’re far away.
Don’t dissapear, don’t disappear. If I rise up to the light that resembles a way out
The moonlight feels like I could be with you.

For a moment I can understand that reality changes
However, these feelings never end. In spite of that it seem this will be everlasting.
Organizing my un-sent folder, Remove all remaining requests.
“These messages will be lost, are you sure you want to erase them?”

The number of stars are often overwhelming if you ask them sparkle.
if I use to chant your name like a spell then why am I starting to forget it?

Wherever, anywhere, I’m thinking of us being apart.
No one, there is nobody, only magic remains.
Don’t turn away, don’t turn away. I’m lost in the maze of a dream.
If I come to a stop, The moonlight feels like I called out to you.

Wind, street, rain, flowers, time are all blowing, shaking, falling, dancing, stoping.
Dream, color, fever, drunk, passion are all going to wake, fade, cool, regain conciousness.
don’t want, don’t want, don’t want, don’t want this…

The same moon, it’s the same thing when the depths of my heart illuminate.
After one second, one light-second I return because you’re far away.
Don’t dissapear, don’t disappear. If I rise up to the light that resembles a way out
Doesn’t it feel like I could meet with you?
Repeating, repeating when the depths of my heart illuminate.
your voice, your shadow. find what was hidden in darkness.
Relying on a promise that can’t be kept
Chasing after you into the night sky, in this moment the two of us are connected in moonlight.

* The Kanji used here in the word “満ちて” could also be interpreted as “waxing/full” when talking about the moon. ”Waxing is the waning moon” referring to a change in the lunar cycle of the moon becoming big and bright. In this case I simply chose to interpret it as “Rising” to compliment “falling” in the same line. This line could suggest he compares himself to being the empty waning moon.

**As can be guessed from the PV, Tarou is looking at the mailbox on his cellphone.

As my own interpretation, I’m guessing moonlight is a way of describing the glow from his cellphone screen. The story line seems to be the ending of a relationship through cellphone message or talking with someone who he is no longer with through text messaging who he apparently still has feelings for.
All the cosmic references can be viewed as metaphors for cellphone use in some way. “The same moon, it’s the same thing when the depths of my heart illuminate” reminds me of like… how you’re heart jumps or gets excited when your cellphone lights up and alerts you of a new message, hoping its from a certain person. Then “After one second, one light-second I return because you’re far away” could be more like… “After one second, one light-second I reply” right away to the new message. “The moonlight feels like I could be with you”: you feel connected to a person, even through distance, when you have some sort of communication with them.
If you go through most of the metaphorical lines here you can pick out the true meaning to it.
I love how Tarou can make even a text message break up into something deeper, more tragic sounding <3

Since my venting post last, things are some what stable. Not better but stable. I hate to say I really don’t handle stress well at all lately. So I’m going to try and emerce myself in anything positive I can and ignore whatever is bothering/upsetting me. Is it a healthy way of dealing with things? No, probably not. But it’s my way of coping for now till I can try and achieve real change. I have a new plan for the future but it’s like I’m starting all over with this one. At least it’ll be in progress till I can properly determine whether my old plans might still come to fruition. So for now, end with complicated matters.

On to what’s new. I got a car ^ ^. Joe got it for me for my birthday actually but I didn’t get it right away. Also couldn’t drive it right away. Had to pay for registration, insurance and other stuff to get it road worthy. Also need to get it inspected by next week… and maybe get some new tires. like $450 later I’m not enjoying my birthday present as much as I would like. I am happy to have a car… but I wasn’t ready to take on the financial burden of it. So now I don’t have much of a choice. At least it only costs like $20 to fill up. I’m also not use to driving at all T-T. It’s been like 5 years I believe since I’ve really driven so I have a lot to get use to again. I’m all paranoid I’m gonna crash into somebody. That’s all I need -.-
So with the car now costing me half my savings (oh, did I mention he used my money to purchase it? Used MY money to buy my own birthday gift..) and 2 whole paychecks I’m in a pretty good negative as far as money goes. This means we will be unfortunately canceling our Otakon plans…. as my hotel/gas/spending money is all gone… If I start saving now I could make most of it up… but this year I really didn’t want to have to do the whole last minute saving crap plus I have a lovely car insurance bill added on to my monthly expenses now. Ah well… Happy Birthday to me :D:D

So last night I got bored and started translating “want want want” by 12012. There use to be a site up that had the song’s translation and everything but I think it was taken down. Such a shame -.- So I just decided to not be lazy and do it myself if I wanted to know it so bad.

want want want – 12012

たぶんそらは淡い夢
Maybe it’s a fleeting dream
誰も居ない楽園で
In a paradise with no one
砂に還る刻を待ち
In the sand waiting for a moment to return
明けて暮れる同じ刻*
The beginning coming to an end at the same moment

誰も見ない本の中
I watch over no one in this book
僕は君と出会うだろう
It seems I will happen to meet you
薄い吐息 消えないで
In a soft lingering sigh
枯れた最後葉は落ちる
The last withered leaves fall

眠らない夜 君の探して 又新しい世界へ
On Sleepless nights I search for you to a world that’s new again
眠れぬ日々に別れを告げて 又美しい世界へ
On Sleepless days I bid farewell to a world that’s beautiful again
この眼が消えて砂になったも変わらず君を見守るよ
Even if these vanishing eyes become sand, I will watch over you
この手が枯れて 砂になったも 君も抱きしめられるよ
Even if these withering hands become sand, I will still hold you

も何も要らないよ 又いつか 生まれ変わっても
I don’t need anything else, even if I’m reborn one day
棒は君を忘れない だから今…
I will not forget you, so now…

輪廻する魂の中で さよならを
In the endless cycle of death and rebirth within my soul I say goodbye
こだまする真実の愛を 泣き叫ぶ
Echoing true love I cry out
砕け散る この身体砂に為り 最愛の君の記憶 消えてく
This body is breaking becoming sand as my beloved memories of you vanish

眠れない夜 君を探して 又新世界へ
On Sleepless nights I search for you to a world that’s new again
眠れぬ日々に別れを告げて 又美しい世界へ
On Sleepless days I bid farewell to a world that’s beautiful again
全てが欲しい 全てが欲しい 叶わぬ願いよ届け
I want everything, I want everything, my answered wish will reach you
君が愛しい 君が愛しいから
Because I love you, I love you

*In this line and the line above the kanji 刻 is used, in this case to express the word time/moment. In the song however you clearly hear him say 時 “toki” while 刻 would be pronounced “koku”. A secondary meaning to 刻 is a carving or engraving, I think he chose this kanji because of a secondary meaning… kinda like a permanently engraved moment or something like that.

I didn’t fail so much with this one this time XD.

Soooo it all started with me making up a little compilation cd of a crap load of Jrock for a friend of mine. She LOVED it especially plastic tree so she asked for more. Being a fellow Cure fan she also asked if I could send her translated lyrics as they’re oh so important to the loving a band. Just so happens she’s hooked on “hairenju” off the cell album… not a popular song. So no surprise I couldn’t find a translation.. or the romaji… or the kana… Nothing >.<
Google finally decided to cough up a page with the romaji for the song! YAY! but… still no kana. So I think “hmm, can’t be that hard to translate just from the romaji!?” and thus started my first translation without the help of the kana version of the song. 2 lines in I realized it was going to be a pain in the ass. I searched everywhere and I couldn’t even find a scan of the Cell album booklet or anything. I just need to see it! So I spend hours typing the romaji into kana, hoping it was right, and then trying to translate it line by line. I got through it but I’m sure there are a ton of mistakes as I have no idea what the correct kana is. There’s got to be a Cell scan somewhere T-T Either way I feel accomplished. I got the jist of it anyway XDD.

針槐
Locust Tree (needle pagoda tree)

ピストルがほしい　毒薬がほしい 心の湖 広がるは 拡がるは
見捨てられた景色 誰か 探すけど世界中が僕で いっぱいだ いっぱいだ
I want a gun, I hope for poision, The lake of my heart expands, expands.
I abandoned a search for someone who viewed everything but throughout the world is full, is full.

そう、ハリエンジュの棘　触れる度刺さって　傷を舐め合えば　夜は叙情してく
ハリエンジュの棘　触れる度痛くて したを出し合えば　夜は叙情してく
yes, I get stuck when I touch the thorn of the locust tree. If we lick our wounds the night expresses itself.
The times I touch the thorns of the locust tree, if it was mutually painful the evening expresses itself.

押し殺してなきゃ　ゴミ見たいな感情　心の湖　引き返す 引き返す
あれは何て歌？　君は何ていった？　最後に知りたくて　聞き返す　聞き返す。
I have to crush these feelings of looking at rubbish. the lake of my heart comes back, comes back.
what is that song? What do you have? Finally I want to know, ask again, ask again.

ピストルがほしい　毒薬がほしい 心の湖 広がるは 拡がるは
呼んでいるように　てを不利さよなら　契り愛で僕を　引き裂いて　引き裂いて。
I want a gun, I hope for poision, The lake of my heart is transparent, transparent.
I call out to you moving your hand saying good bye against our vow of love. I am torn up,　tear me up.

もう　抜けないや　抜けないや　抜けないや　抜けないや
Soon I won’t be able to escape, can’t escape, can’t escape, can’t escape.

*Title of song seems can translate a few ways. Directly translated it means “black locust tree” aka robinia pseudoacacia. It can also mean “needle pagoda tree” as thats what each individual kanji represents. I chose to generalize the title to just locust tree as it makes more sense to the song. The black locust tree is a thorny tree but mostly the backs of the leaves. The Golden locust and other variations have long pointed thorns covering most of the tree, some 2-6 inches in length and closely related to the acacia tree. Seems appropriate.
